Did you know

The Trilby hat derives its name from George du Maurier’s 1894 novel Trilby. It rose to prominence following a stage adaptation of the work, in which the leading actress appeared wearing a short-brimmed hat of the now-iconic style. Audiences came to associate the design with the play, and before long the hat itself was widely known as the Trilby.
